Universal Music, who own most of Dusty’s back catalogue, have a major project under way featuring some of the leading female vocalists of today. Stars including Alison Moyet and Natasha Bedingfield are joined by newcomers like Beth Rowley to pay tribute to Britain’s greatest ever female singer.

The ladies in question are each recording one of Dusty’s songs. From the tracks I have already heard we are in for a truly great album. Little By Little, Spooky, and Son Of A Preacher Man are among the songs done so far.

No release date has been set, but it would seem appropriate if it was around the 10th anniversary of Dusty’s passing, in March 2009.

As plans become more certain I will post more news.
