This Friday, February 20, BBC4 will show two Motown specials, celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the launch of Tamla records.
At 20:00 Motown At The BBC will feature footage of top Tamla acts in performance at the BBC studios, including Four Tops, The Supremes & Stevie Wonder.
Then, at 21:00 there is a documentary about the Motortown revue tour of the UK in April 1965, which featured Martha & The Vandellas, The Miracles, The Supremes, Stevie Wonder & Earl Van Dyke’s band, now know as The Funk Brothers. The doc also covers the making of the ITV Sound Of Motown special, hosted by Dusty, and with any luck will feature footage of this legendary show.
Madeline bell is one of the contributors to The Motown Invasion documentary.
