DUSTY SPRINGFIELD DAY AT THE BME

UMTV & THE BRITISH MUSIC EXPERIENCE TEAM UP FOR ‘DUSTY SPRINGFIELD DAY’ - not to be confused with Dusty Day, in Ealing on April 19.
Dusty Springfield becomes the first artist to be honoured at the BME with a dedicated day

On 12 April 2009, Dusty Springfield makes musical history as she becomes the first artist to be honoured at the British Music Experience (BME), the permanent hi-tech, interactive music exhibition that opened at The O2 last month. Paying tribute to Dusty’s outstanding contribution to the UK music industry, ‘Dusty Springfield Day’ comes hand-in-hand with the launch of an epic 26-track collection of her finest works, ‘Just Dusty’ and marks the 10th anniversary of her death; all in the month when the singer would have celebrated her 70th birthday.

The BME is the world's only fully interactive permanent exhibition dedicated to over 60 years of popular music in Britain, where visitors can watch, listen, play, sing and dance their way through British music history.

‘Dusty Springfield Day’ is all about bringing a slice of the Dusty phenomena back to life by recreating a magical Dusty experience.  Paul Lilley, BME curator comments, “Dusty Springfield is one of the greatest female pop artists of all time, her music is timeless and with 2009 being such a momentous year for Dusty, we felt compelled to celebrate her glittering career and contribution to the British music industry with Dusty Springfield Day.  The day promises to be filled with excitement and interaction and one which Dusty fans will truly remember.”

The first 100 visitors through the door will receive a free advance copy of Dusty’s new album, ‘Just Dusty’’.  The dedicated Dusty room will house key memorabilia, images and video and fans are encouraged to bring along their own keepsakes.
